What I have loved about living and raising my family at 32 Ellis Park Road:

I love the expansive experience of seeing tree tops and endless sky. Yes, I climb stairs to get this, but it is well worth it! Every day I feel like I come home to my sanctuary, my retreat in the middle of the city. I have access to everything practical (like Bloor West Village, The Junction, Roncesvalles, great schools for my kids, Subway, Gardiner Expressway, shopping, local businesses, routes for running and cycling etc.) while being nestled/perched in the middle of nature. I love the feeling of privacy. Every window I look out of, I see nature rather than neighbours, and yet I am at the same time in the midst of community. I love the flow of the house, the feeling of openness, space and connection. It is a great house for living and entertaining with open space, beautiful views, and a cozy and welcoming feeling for one, two, four or twenty. My experiences of engagement with the outdoors begin on the front porch which is a wonderful place to sit, read, have a cup of tea three seasons of the year (even during rainfall), and flows into the private back lane behind our house where I can play ball with the dog or across the street into the expansive opportunities that High Park has to offer. When my kids were little, I appreciated that there was a distance between my front door and the street below. Having the back lane is something that each of us has cherished. It is a way of coming home that brings you into the quiet and calm of nature. It lets you leave the busyness of the day behind on The Palisades as you climb down the Valleymede stairs and ease into the calm of the back lane. Coming home this way always feels relaxing.
