Swansea

Bounded by Bloor Street West, south to  The Queensway, and High Park (city’s largest green space) west to South Kingsway, the area known as Swansea was named as such due to its rolling landscape and twisting roads that were reminiscent of a Wales’ village by the same name.

The majority of the lands of ‘upper’ Swansea are 30 to 40 feet higher than Lake Ontario, with steep hillsides along Grenadier Pond, Humber River and Rennie Pond. At the end of Windermere we find clusters of low to mid rise condominium buildings that are now overshadowed by new condominiums and town homes that have begun to line The Queensway and Lakeshore.

Characterized by a mix of residential housing types built between 1905-1935, Swansea’s high-end homes are located either at the western edge of High Park overlooking Grenadier Pond, or on Riverside Drive and the Brule Gardens enclave bordering the Humber River.   The area also boasts a handful of high-end condos and lofts.
